The only thing I don't like about the requirements is that the girls have to be from an asian descent isolate other girls living in Asia.

Asia Pacific means the Asian continent facing the Pacific ocean which is the Northeast and Southeast Asia. Middle East, Central and South Asia makes up the other part of Asia.

Noooo, Asia Pacific very much includes Aus, NZ and the pacific islands and most sports tournaments and businesses include them in "Asia Pacific" group too. But the show is called Asia's model no Pacific, so it's OK.
The major barrier to getting the best girls would be English I would say. Probably counts out 80% of potential contestants in a lot of these countries (including Japan).
And on that topic, Japan could never have a top model show which closely mirrors the production values of the Western shows... The models "popular" with the public who get tv coverage are all cutesy cutesy and barely modelesque Ai Tominaga For example is considered hideous by most average joes here smh

Before you all get so excited - let me bring your attention to something. You all notice that they never announced who is the BROADCASTER for this show? All they are doing is announcing a casting call but yet they skipped the essential information of which channel will it be showing on. This is just a publicity stunt and whether or not the show is actually made remains unknown.

I partially agree! First of all in my mind, I think STAR World would win the right to broadcast the show because the channel currently airs so many Top Model franchises (Britain, Australia, America & Canada). It won't miss a chance to broadcast another big franchise, especially franchise for the whole asia. Deadline is May 5th, but now (April 12) STAR World doesn't even promote Asia's Next Top Model casting calls. Seemingly STAR World rules itself out . Reasonably?

She's from my country!!! Uhm, well, I'm actually not sure what's her nationality. Her mother is Australian, and her father is Indonesian. She's been on many commercials and magazines here in Indonesia, and she speaks Indonesian too

It WILL BE in English, I mean, yes! Asian countries have their own unique languages, and this will be in English for sure!

But maybe this won't be ready until the half-third quarter of 2012, but I expect more.
