BACK ON FIRST PAGE! Just as a disclaimer: I am NOT hijacking booyou’s thread.
I figured I could get everyone to start discussing more in this thread and keeping it up on the first page without using meaningless bumps. I decided to try out one photoshoot, my #3 of cycle 2. Who knows, by the time $5-foot-long event at Subway ends, you all will have forgotten what I've written and booyou can take over per usual.
And then again if you don't read my rankings, I don't blame you. I'm essentially like a seat-warmer for booyou's photoshoot rankings throne.
If anyone else wants to write their rankings or whatever, they can too.
    So here we go:
      Spoiler:
    Third Place: Week 8
    Solstice
    Best

Honorable Mention: Yoanna and then April

    Worst

    Dishonorable Mention: Camille

I had a hard time deciding the order of shoots for booyou’s top 3, but despite how amazing and high fashion the Solstice shoot is, I had to place it as #3. While I love the styling across the board, the sets seems wasted to me. Many of the girls ended up with grey steps and railings in their backgrounds, which is boring and a waste of the international destination. To be honest, out of all of the shots only Yoanna had a decent background, which is why she is higher in my honorable mentions than April for Best shot of this shoot. Another reason this shoot only gets third is that not all of the results were amazing across the board, but most of the girls did well with 1 stand-out doing amazingly and 2 of them (as mentioned above) doing pretty badly.

It’s undeniable that Shandi did the best this shoot. This shot is simply iconic; even for someone like me who hasn’t seen this cycle before, I know about and LOVE this shot. The photographer loved her performance at the shoot, and she simply fits the brief effortlessly. She sells those sunglasses while still having a dynamic pose that sells the dress and shoes as well. In her close-up you can see her eyes are kind of dead, but to me, the deadness creates a cool vibe to her and only highlights the sunglasses further. This was Shandi’s week, simply put, and she owned this shoot. While I do love April’s and Yoanna’s shots, both of them have flaws that put them under Shandi’s shot.

While it was Camille who was eliminated for this shoot (and I’m sure Tyra was chomping at the bit to eliminate her just like she was chomping at the bit to eliminate her in cycle 17 ), Mercedes did the worst at this shoot. While I appreciate she was trying to look high-fashion with that snarl and the hands-on-the-hips pose, it comes off as disjointed. The pose is stiff as a board and lifeless, whereas the face is fiery and full of life. Also, this is not Mercedes' fault, but her feet are cropped out of this photo. While this isn't so bad for a sunglasses shoot, overall as a photo it doesn't look as good. Camille’s is bad too, but at least the photo works as a whole. The slouched, defeated position works well with the lost, almost forlorn expression on Camille's face.

    HEY GUYS IM BAAAAACK!

So a lot kind of happened. My job got super intense, things soured with my ex, had a lot of interpersonal drama, and I found out that my boss might be stealing money from my paycheck! But don't worry I didn't forget you guys and I haven't forgotten this thread. I will be starting right where I left off and will do my best to keep up until finished. I know season 18 just started. I will not be ranking that until it is over and I'll just show where I think the photoshoot fits in (as of right now don't expect it to rank high) Once again I'm sorry for abandoning this mid way and I want to let all of you who were with me that I love you. So if you'll still have me, here's the top 3!

In third for the second cycle
      Spoiler:
    Third Place: Week 10
    Nude
    Best

    Honorable Mention: Shandi/Yoanna
    Worst

So this was the nude shoot of cycle 2 and it's a really good shot. They split the girls up had them pose together in wigs and nothing else. Thematically it's a pretty standard concept and they could take it in a lot of ways. The lack of clothes really allows the models to portray any emotion or connection as there's really no reference to pin them down in a certain niche. As an element to the competition it was really smart as not are they competing against who they're posing with they also have to work together to make their picture shine. So it's a balance between doing and standing out and being consistant. On top of that the nudity adds another element of awkwardness and they can't let any insecurities they may feel about their bodies, their partners bodies, or sexual tension get in the way. Over all I think it was very well done. The execution is great with both pictures being lovely while having their own separate charm. They feel classic and the monochromatic color scheme really helps give an interesting atmosphere to the picture.

I know I'm going against the grain a bit but I find Mercedes and Aprils picture to be the most interesting. The shapes in their bodies are magnificent. Just the line of Aprils back is gorgeous and the s shaped path the eye follows extends right up into Mercedes face. Absolutely brilliant composition.Yes Aprils face is at an odd angle but with everything else combined it doesnt matter and this picture just shines through.

Yoanna and Shandi also had a great picture. It's beautiful and interesting, but unfortunately for them it doesnt intrigue me as much. That being said I do love the expressions and the mirrored hairstyles. It's just not as good as the other photo.
      Spoiler:
    Second Place:Week 8
    Solstice Sunglasses
    Best

    Honorable Mention: Yoanna, Mercedes
    Worst

This was another great shoot. Vintage couture, in an amphitheater shooting sunglasses. It had a great set, great styling, and amazing clothes, it was just a beautiful set up and for the most part it paid off. The shots were pretty good all around with one huge standout. What was bad was not so much awful as it was dull and considering some of ANTM's missteps thats pretty fortunate. The only complaint I have is that the product (the glasses) and featured prominently in all the shots and can be hard to see. The shots were all framed nicely and the came out quite well. Overall a really well executed and satisfying shoot.

I'm not going to lie, this picture is fantastic. If I was ranking all of them second place would go to Yoanna but she's been outstripped for miles by Shandi's shot. Everything about this reads ad campaign. The styling is eye catching but not too exaggerated, the clothes look opulent, her attitude is perfect and the framing is amazing. Even the background adds drama with the diagonal curve of the seats showing depth. It's just a knock out and the glasses look great. This is one of the top photos from the entire show for a reason and it's a well deserved top placement for Shandi.

I like April but this photo isn't doing her many favors. She doesn't look ugly or anything like that, she just looks bored. Her body reads flat, small, and uninspired, and her face, while gorgeous, lacks a sign of interest. The whole photo reads flat and it's a disappointing picture from a contestant who had one of the strongest portfolios.

And number 1 of cycle 2 is
      Spoiler:
    Best Photoshoot: Week 11
    Extreme Beauty
    Best

    Honorable Mention: Mercedes
    Worst

Yep that's right. These beauty shots were my favorite photoshoots. What I liked was how they took various types of looks each girl could rock and assigned them to the others. Shandi got Mercedes natural look, Mercedes got Yoanna's elegant look, and Yoanna got shandi's edgy modern look. Doing this gave the viewers a chance to see the women in different settings than we were used to and provided a challenge. Restricting it to just beauty shots upped the difficulty of the shoot. The best part is it paid off with two fantastic shots. The styling was great on all of them and it really showed in the quality of the photos. I know everyone melts over Yoanna's photo and I'll do just that in a second but can I first say how much I also adore Mercedes? Everything about her picture is amazing. The way they teased her hair into that updo is quite remarkable and the silver rings around it and her neck show off the beauty in her skintone and the shape of the hair. Her picture should also be considered an iconic shot and is nearly as deserving of praise as Yoanna's.

This picture can be boiled down into one word. Bonestructure. Seeing Yoanna's facial features in a minimalist setting like this just accentuates every gorgeous plane on her face. Her face is near perfect symmetry! The dramatic red lip with her striking blue-green eyes and the dark dramatic clothing just pulls the eye in and the way they all contrast is just so striking. It's fantastic that's all I can say. Just fantastic.

Shandi while beautiful did not do well this week and as much as I loved her and was sad to see her go, she did deserve it for this shot. It's not bad but it's very week and for the final 3 weakness this late deserves a kick. I think the styling was gorgeous but she didn't bring it. Her face is flat with no emotion and its a forgettable picture. If anything she looks mildly sad which never reads as interesting or pleasant. It's just a major disappointment from one of the best contestants from the cycle.

eh I've pretty much given up on showing all the ranked shoots + cycles I'll do that when i finish the whole thing

next cycle had a contestant that Tyra got mad at

Welcome back with the stunning ranking, and good luck on whatever you have encountered recently!!!

And I didn't realized its top 6 already!!!!
    C4, C6, C10, C11, C13, C16
Stunning top 6 and they all provided great photoshoots!!
Even thought I would like to trade C6 with C2 since I am not really a fan of C6's kind of roleplaying photoshoots.
Hopefully next is C4 cuz C16 is in my top 3

Continuing on. The cycle that missed out on the top five was....
      Spoiler:
    Sixth Place
    Cycle 4
Cycle 4 was my first real exposure to ANTM as I caught a few of the later episodes at a friends house and while it wasnt the first cycle I completed watching (that would be cycle 10) it was what really drew me in and I connected with several of the characters over the span of two episodes. Because of that I feel a shred of nostalgia for the photoshoots despite the fact a few of them heavily toe the line between kitschy and inspired. That being said I don't think any of them fall too heavily in the kitschy pitfall and the vast majority were very well executed. That being said the tiny bits of tackiness do slip through and keep it just out of the top 5 but for what it was this was an excellent cycle for photoshoots

      Spoiler:
    Last Place: Week 5
    Got Milk
    Best

    Worst

This photoshoot is.... problematic. Whether or not darkening contestants skin for a fashion shoot constitutes blackface is a tricky subject. It makes sense that ANTM would do a shoot where they tried to alter the races of the contestants as this happens in the fashion world all the time. Many people argue that trying alter the race of a subject for something like a photoshoot is racist as it not only bypasses models of the race being depicted for a job (most of the models who go through these shoots are white) but many times the shoots resort to bare stereotypes. In many way I'd say this is true for the Got Milk and cycle 13's Happa photoshoot but what really saves cycle 13 is the strength of the photos whereas all the ones from this shoot fall flat. An interesting thing to note is that Got Milk refused to let ANTM release the photos off this set with no explanation. I have one theory as to why they didn't want to release the photos and that's because someone at the company saw the shoot and didnt want their brand associated with a problematic shoot. Ignoring the racist overtones I will say I don't like most of these photos beyond the cultural implications. They almost all feel the same and there's little variation from model to model besides the styling and even much of that is rather uninspired and dull. It's just a bad shoot for an otherwise good cycle.

Despite all I've said about this photoshoot I will say this shot of Keenyah is great. Her body position is good, the way she's interacting with the child seems natural and her neck looks lovely. I like how her face is half hidden in shadow as it adds a flavor of mystery to the shot. Problems I have with the whole shoot still stand but ignoring that context it is a good shot and she deserves praise for it.

Noelle's shot is just painfully boring. On all the other photos I could fixate on one thing that I liked going on but here I have nothing that saves any graces. Next.

      Spoiler:
    Tenth Place: Week 7
    Wonderbra
    Best

    Honorable Mention: Michelle
    Worst

This shoot was supposed to be so good. The set was great, the concept with the feathers and the pillow fight is a strong one for something like lingerie, the styling was good, but for whatever reason it just fell flat. Only Michelle and Brittany's shots really work (Kahlen comes close but her pose obscures most of the bra from view) and everyone else just has unworkable shots. Why it turned out this way I don't know but for whatever reason this shoot just didn't work out

Brittany really knocked this shoot out. She's beautiful and has the right type of energy. The expression on her face is the right mix between happiness, sensuality, and surprise. Her chemistry with the male model is perfect. The body angle shows both the action and the bra off very well. It's just the perfect shot from this shoot.

Rebecca's worst enemy on this shoot is lighting. Her body is rotated away from the light source causing both the product and her face to be lost. This is a basic mistake and she should have caught it.

      Spoiler:
    Ninth Place: Week 13
    Covergirl
    Best

    Honorable Mention: Kahlen
    Worst

Covergirl shoots are almost always the hardest for me to critique as the set up rarely changes and they all tend to come across the same anyway with minor color scheme changes. This shoot was actually pretty good for a covergirl one. All the models did well at coming across as personable and fresh and they al look pretty and approachable. The brown color scheme gives it an earthy feel and makes the models seem more realistic and personable. That being said it's very dull in comparison to the other shoots this cycle and because its not as interesting it falls here.

Naima captured the perfect blend of sweet, friendly, and gorgeous for this shoot. A lot about her facial features really make her seem approachable and her smile seems to be one of genuine warmth and sincerity. The styling works really well in her favor toning down her mohawk and the light green of the top really accents the beauty of her skin tone. No complaints

I do feel this is a good shot of Keenyah but out of the bunch its the weakest. Having her turned away from the camera and looking over the shoulder separates her from the viewer a bit and cuts off part of her face. It works as a pose for other shoots but its not generally a good thing for a covergirl shot as both of those things put walls between the image and the viewer when the goal is to come across as friendly and real.I also find the laughing smile a tad cheesy. Its a good picture but out of the three its the worst.

      Spoiler:
    Eighth Place: Week 2
    Aliens
    Best

    Honorable Mention: Rebecca, Tiffany, Noelle
    Worst

This shoot was interesting. As a first shoot it was fairly good with a cool set up for the models to play around with. The styling was really hit or miss though with some of it elevating contestants (Kahlen, Noelle, Rebecca) and dragging down others (Christina, Lluvy) but for the most part it really added nothing which is disappointing. Most of the photos are alright. They aren't mediocre just rather plain and uninteresting. There are a few really bad ones and really good ones but as far as the shoot goes it's just sort of alright.

Kahlens shot here is perfection. The clothing looks great and does its job well, the makeup and hair get the alien theme across while also being elegant and her expression and pose are excellent. The length she conveys in her legs and arms really pull her up and the angles in her body create interest as well as several paths for the eye to follow through the picture. Her face is relax but not slack with an almost romantic expression which when mixed with the setting creates a lot of interest. Its an amazing shot and it pulled this shoot up beyond the covergirl one for me.

I like Lluvy and I want to like her pictures but she never seems sure what to do with her face and this is no exception. Her eyes look nice but her lips are too pouted and don't make the picture look appealing. There's no tension in her body to create interest or capture anything. The makeup and netting also does her no favors as well so as a result the whole picture falls apart.

100% agreed with Kahlen grabbing top spot for Aliens.
Lubriderm Animals and Kloofing were my favorite shoots from cycle 4. I hope they get top 2!

I actually hope Lubriderm wins #1 because really, so many of the shots were great. I found Kahlen's Springbok shot overrated in that shoot though. Too much quirky "springbok"-ness and not enough model imo, but maybe it works for something like Lubriderm. I found Brittany's, Michelle's, Naima's, and Christina's shots all better tho. Keenyah without a doubt did the worst for Lubriderm.

Kloofing: Brittany is the obvious number one, and Keenyah is the obvious worst choice.
1-800-Flowers: I hope either Kahlen or Michelle grabs the top spot. Personally I hated Keenyah's shot and want her photo in the worst spot, but I'm not surprised if it isn't. I have a hard time judging Keenyah's photos objectively because C4 was one of the first cycles I watched and I hated her the most this cycle. But then again her portfolio did suck so...
Zodiac: I think Lluvy is the obvious choice for worst not necessarily because of Lluvy, but more because of the styling. And I hope Michelle gets top spot.
7 Deadly Sins: Personally I liked Christina's and Naima's photos the best this shoot, but we'll see. For worst I'd have to go with Michelle's.
Dancing: Naima is the obvious number one; Kahlen is my worst choice for this one.
Gas Station: I hope Naima or Brittany take the top spot. I think Lluvy's was the worst, but that's just based off of what I remember.
